What is Marigold?
Tagetes erecta, the Mexican marigold, also called Aztec marigold, is a species of the genus Tagetes native to Mexico and Central America. Despite its being native to the Americas, it is often called African marigold.In Mexico,this plant is found in the wild in the states of San Luis Potos¨ª, Chiapas, State of M¨¦xico,Puebla, Sinaloa, Tlaxcala, and Veracruz. This plant reaches heights of between 50 to100 cm (20to39 in). The Aztecs gathered the wild plant as well as
cultivating it for medicinal,ceremonial and decorative purposes.It is widely cultivated commercially with many cultivars in use as ornamental plants.

Used as a colorant
(1) lutein is a excellent colorant used in food and cosmetic. American Food and Drug Administration(FDA) has permit the application of lutein extracted from marigold to food.
(2) Used as a feed additive to put color on egg yolk,fur,and flesh of poultry,aquatic product and birds.
Application:
Mainly used as feed additives,especially for the pigmentation of chicken meat, fat, chicken feet and egg yolk.
Usage:
Simply added with other ingredients into premixtures. Recommend dosage: xanthophill 10 to 30g/ mt.or according to customer¡¯s requirments. |
